It’s Not You…It’s Him

Message Scripture:

“And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.” – Luke 1:35 – 38 (KJV)

Seasons Greetings once again CLMNWA Family!

I have to admit that I’m not going to be able to finish the Christmas series, and so this will be the final message of 2015 for the Christlike Ministries NWA Blog.  It’s been a fantastic year!  I believe that 2016 is shaping up to be our best year yet.  I am going to be taking most of the next month away.  I will most likely write an end of the year Newsletter some time next week, and then I’m going to be taking the first few weeks of 2016 to focus on Jesus, and take some time to readjust my priorities as well.

For now, however, it’s time to get into the final message of the final series of 2015.

Let’s Worship Jesus:

A Christmas series just isn’t complete without one of the best Christmas songs I know by Chris Tomlin.  Although it won’t really fit the message…I believe it will fit the verse that this message is based upon.  Here is “Glory In The Highest”…

It’s Not You…It’s Him

I suppose there are people out there that think every time I say it’s not about me…it really is about me.  The truth is, however, that even though my name is on these messages, even though each of these messages tells my story one message at a time, even though Christlike Ministries NWA or Pastor B’s Blog is on every message, and even though they are posted everywhere that I am on social media…the reason I do this isn’t so I’ll be popular or famous or made to be known as some great man of God.  It’s not even about you.  It is always first and foremost about God.

Yes it’s true that I write these messages in hopes that you’ll begin, develop, and maintain your own personal walk with God.  I also write these messages hoping to educate, encourage, and equip you for your God-given vocation.  However, the real honest to God reason that I stay up well past midnight some times to write these messages  is because this is my way to honor God.

In other words…it’s not about me, it’s not about you, but it really is honestly about Him.

God has done so much in, with, and through my life over the last 6 years really that just blows my mind.  Just half a dozen years ago I was still living in Wisconsin, but I also wasn’t aware of just how much of a mess my life was about to become.  One year later I had arrived and begun to establish myself in Arkansas, I found a church to attend, I began dating the woman who is now my wife, and I was also just beginning to start the journey that God had ordained me to walk.  I was still hanging out with Jay Yates and Taylor Clayborne working on Live Band Karaoke.  I was just fresh from the revelation a month prior when I had that moment with Jesus that changed my life forever, and all that you read today began on that day because that was the day that I was truly born-again.

Three years ago, I found out I was going to be a daddy, and as wrong as I thought God was about calling me to serve Him I was fully convinced that God was making a huge mistake entrusting me with a child.  After all, it took Him eleven years for me to embrace the call to ministry, but I was sure that God had flipped His lid when He allowed my wife and I the blessing of being able to conceive a child.  I had no faith that I was going to be even a half-way decent daddy, but so far I’m willing to say that I’m really not doing that bad.  She’s only two so I have a long way to go, but I guess God knew what He was doing after all.

Two years ago, I began a journey as a stay at home dad.  This was four months after she was born and God had spoken to me about slowing down, enjoying life, and adjusting my priorities.   I thought I knew what He meant, but it took about two months in to being a stay at home parent to realize I had no idea how to do what God was wanting me to do.  Two years ago, my daughter was also getting ready to celebrate her first Christmas, and what a Christmas she had.  One year ago, she was starting to discover things like the Christmas lights, but she was still relatively new to the world.  This year, my daughter has begun to blossom into a beautiful, smart, funny, sassy, sweet little girl that’s excited for Santa…and Christmas presents. 🙂

Is this okay!?!  It’s a bit of a side-journey before we get into the actual message, but I feel like maybe this might minister to someone so I’ll stay with it as long as it is good between me and the Holy Ghost to stick with it.

The reason I do this is because I can’t help but to be thankful, grateful, and so appreciative of all that God has done in, with, and through my life and through the two blogs.  When I started this ministry I barely had any traffic to my blog at all…today I’m looking at setting record numbers, and we are probably going to have our fifth month in a row of 4,000 views a month or more.  In addition to that (as most of you know) the greatest statistic is the fact that we are inching closer and closer to having reached 200 nations.  I do this because of all that God has done for me, and because every time I write I am doing it out of a heart of obedience, love, and worship to my King of kings and Lord of lords…Jesus Christ.

One last time.  It’s not about me.  It’s more about you than it is about me.  Above all…it’s about Him.

Yesterday, we read that God uses the unqualified. But today, we read why. It’s because it’s not about you. It’s about Him. He will give you what you need to accomplish what He needs you to do.

Okay.  So yesterday was actually quite a few days ago, but in the last message we talked about how God doesn’t call or use the qualified…He qualifies those He calls.  He uses those who to the natural would seem to be completely unqualified, like me.  If you looked at my history in the natural you would not think that someone like me would be sitting in front of this computer today typing out over 400 messages about how God’s grace, love, and mercy has changed my life…but that’s exactly what I am doing.

I can’t even get a real secular job because of the fact that I have felony convictions on my background check.  I already have failed once as a parent and a husband. I have served altogether about three years in the Kenosha County Detention Center. I have been homeless, I have been a womanizer, and the list of failures would make King David seem like he really wasn’t that bad of a guy after all.  I mean, if I lived in the Old Testament I probably would have been struck and killed and probably lost for all of eternity.

There’s a sobering thought, hey!?!  Remember all those people who died worshiping the calf?  They are all in hell right now as we speak.  The thing of it is they have been dead and separated from God for a long, long time.  I mean, they have been in hell already for almost 10,000 years or more….and that’s not even a grain of sand’s time in the scope of eternity.  Think about that for a moment before you judge me because of who I was.  I’m certainly not the person that did all that junk back then anymore, and some of that stuff I did after 2001 knowing that God had work for me to do…but I ran.  I had already considered myself a lost cause, and couldn’t possibly imagine how God could use a messed up individual like me to do any good for His kingdom…but He has…and every message I pen is the result.

So, there are more than enough reason for me to be unqualified to serve God, but according to Him that is exactly what qualifies me.  Listen to me.  I’m not qualified to serve God because I graduated at the top of my Bible study class, I never missed church, and I lived a spotless, blameless life.  I’m not qualified because as an introvert I learned to communicate my heart and thoughts through written word.  I’m not qualified because I’ve never needed the Blood of Jesus to wash me from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet.  I am qualified to serve God solely because He qualified me through His Son.

Romans 8:29 is the underwriting verse of Christlike Ministries NWA.  2 Corinthians 3:18 is another one of the verses that underwrite my ministry.  Romans 8:28 is the verse I’ve seen God demonstrate to me the most in my life over and over and over again.  John 14:6 is one of my favorite verses because it’s meant for guys like me that need black and white with no gray.  Galatians 2:20, however, like most of you applies to my life like an auto-biography.  That verse right there is the story of my life.  If you don’t know what it reads…look it up.  If you don’t know what any of those verses read…you should look them up.  The point is, the life I now live I live by the grace of God, and I know it.  I know that I wouldn’t be alive and breathing today without the grace, mercy, and love of God.

I am so thankful that God called, chose, and qualified me.  He gave me the ability to write.  He spoke to me through a pastor that I would use my ability to write for His glory, and here I am today doing just that.  I’ve said many times that I’ve never been to a Bible school, and probably won’t ever have the time or money to attend one now.  Every thing I have received from my anointing to my ordination to the ministry itself.  All the messages I write, the layouts, the themes I use on my sites, the sites I’m on, and all…it’s all been done with God leading and guiding me.

I can’t claim any praise for any of this because in reality it was God that has done all of this amazing work in, with, and through my life and Christlike Ministries NWA.

The angel told Mary that the Holy Spirit will be with her, and that was what it took to give her the confidence to say yes to birthing Jesus, the Savior of humanity.

You need to know that whatever God is calling you to—whatever He wants you to do—He will be with you. He will give you the strength, the words, the wisdom to do what He is calling you to do.

I said in the last message that God isn’t looking for qualifications He’s looking for availability.  He’s looking for people to be like Isaiah and say “Here am I use me as You see fit.”, and believe me He will use you.  He has everything you are supposed to do for Him already planned.  He knows exactly how to use you, where to use you, and what you can do to reach the most people and bring Him the most glory.  And…as an added bonus (as I have found out) He really will be with you every step of the way.

Friends, if you go back to some of my original writings, and you read my messages now you’ll see a noticeable difference as to how much better a writer I am today than I was when I started.  Sure, some of that is because of repetition.  You know…the more you do something the better you become at it, but it is also because God has been with me every step of the journey.  He’s helped me to become an even better writer than I was when I started doing this, and He’s helped me with everything from the format to my messages to picking out worship songs and even the titles of messages.

God has His hands and fingerprints on everything when it comes to Christlike Ministries NWA, and that’s because His fingerprints are upon my life.  He called me, qualified me, and then He even took the time to personally train me.  Let me let you in on a little secret.  He’s still training me today.  I’m still a work in progress, and I know that I’ll continue to be a work in progress until the day He calls me home.  There’s never a moment when I feel like I’ve arrived at some great spiritual plateau because it’s not about my efforts, my abilities or anything within me.  It’s all about God’s workmanship, and what He’s been able to do in, with, and through my life. Period.

Friends.  God knows everything from beginning to end.  He had everything planned out for you from the moment you said “yes” to Him, and accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior.  He knows exactly who you are called to reach, and He has a specific purpose for your life.  We all seem to act like we have no idea what God wants us to do, but as I’ve said before I believe we make ministry way too complicated.  Chances are if you’ll think about your gifts and talents and abilities you’ll come to find there is something that you do or like to do that you are extremely passionate about.  Maybe you’re a writer like me or a musician or a poet or a good speaker or you are good at interpreting dreams or who knows.  Maybe you’re a really organized person and your good with administrative stuff.

Whatever it is…take some time over the next few weeks after everything has settled from Christmas, and seek the Lord about what it is He has planned for you to do.  It may be that your specific calling in life is to be the best ambassador for Christ you can be at your workplace, or it may be that God breaks your heart every time you see the commercials for starving children and you feel like you need to go to them.  Don’t discount those kinds of things as you’re just being emotional…it could be that’s the very thing God placed on your heart to do as service to Him.  I know of a young woman who just completed Bible school that’s known she is destined to be a missionary to Africa before she even graduated high school.  Maybe your good at art or painting or sculpting or dance forms.  There aren’t any limits on what we can do to bring God glory except the ones we place upon Him and ourselves.

I’m finally at a place where I can close this message.  I guess it really wasn’t to Christmasy at all was it?  Look at me all Pastor Ronnie like making up words. I didn’t even have a Christmas Carol for this message until I was working to do the final proofread. This is just one of those messages that really doesn’t have anything at all to do with Christmas…but it does have to do with what God wants us to know…and what He wants us to know is this.

Now, I’m ready to close the message with this final point…

So what is God calling you to do? Will you reply like Mary did and say, “Yes, I will do it because I am the Lord’s servant.”

Let’s Pray:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of Mary.  Thank You for using her to show all of us that You will use anyone that is willing and available to be used to bring You glory, honor, and fame.  I pray for those who know that You have called and anointed them to serve You…that You would help them to discover what it is You have called them to do.  I pray You’ll help them discover that talent and ability that You placed in them as a gift to them so that they can in return use it to as their gift back to You.  Thank You, Lord, as always for all that You have done in, with, and through my life.  I pray that my experiences maybe will encourage others to take that step of faith, and embrace what it is You have ordained them to do for such a time as this.  We bring You glory and honor and praise.  We love You Lord, and thank You for taking the time to speak to us this night through this message.  Please sink this message into our hearts.  Thank You for ears to hear and hearts that will be receptive and respond to what You are speaking to us through this message. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen and Amen.

Final Word From Pastor B:

Nothing like waiting until the last-minute to wrap up this Christmas series, Amen.  There are still presents to wrap, and other things to do for to prepare for Christmas.  Yet, here I am trying to wrap up another three messages by the end of the day.  I’m probably going to have to allow for one message to spill over to Christmas Eve, but I’m not sure how it’s all going to work out…but I am just going to do like I always do…trust the Lord. Amen!?!

Just remember as we close this message out the following:

You need to know that whatever God is calling you to—whatever He wants you to do—He will be with you. He will give you the strength, the words, the wisdom to do what He is calling you to do.

I’m going to have to admit defeat, and confess that I’m not going to be able to finish the Christmas series.  I am sorry, but that’s just kind of how things have gone this year. There’s a lot of things to wrap up around the Kizer household to make sure we’re ready for Christmas.

So.  I want to take a moment to say thank you for a fantastic year.  I couldn’t have grown and reached all the people who I’ve managed to reach without you.  I am looking forward to seeing what God is going to do in the coming year.  We have broken so many viewership records, and Lord willing I’ll be able to share some of those things with you with one final Newsletter post of 2015.

For now, however, I’m simply going to wish a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you and your families from mine, and say that if you are going to be out partying please do so responsibly.  Please don’t become a casualty or have to spend the rest of your life in jail because you got behind the wheel and you weren’t sober.  I don’t want any of you to be in jails, prisons, hospitals or cemeteries come January 25, 2016 when we resume all posts.

Thank you…all of you for all of your prayers, your patience, and your support.  May God bless and keep you and give y’all an amazing Christmas.  I hope y’all enjoy your families, friends, and loved ones…and will be ready to see what God is going to talk to us about as we learn talk about making sure we Give God First Place, and learn about the Basics of the Christian Life as well.

Have a blessed evening and God bless you!

Blessings & Grace;

Bryan Kizer – Pastor
