Message Scripture:

Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1 (NASB)

Introduction:

We are almost finished with this series.  I sense that perhaps we’re going to get through the introduction of this message, and maybe into some of the teaching portion before it becomes time to call it a night.  I have to say that I’m so glad that this was the voted upon topic for us to get into, it’s produced three pretty good messages, and I believe that we’ve learned a lot more about God’s grace then we did before we started.  That’s the hope, Amen!?!  That’s what these teaching series are all about.  Getting to know more about the Bible, getting to know more about God, and most important getting to KNOW God more…Amen!?!

Look, I don’t think there’s a person in the world…not even the smartest Bible Scholar in the world that knows everything there is to know from the Bible.  I know there are people who know it forwards and backwards…but there is so much heart knowledge to combine with heart knowledge and spiritual wisdom and understanding and…that’s my point.  The Bible is the only book in the world that is truly limitless when it comes to the amount of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding you can gain from it. Amen!?!

Well, I’m already doing better at preaching than y’all are doing at saying “Amen”…but you know what I just said was right.  Anyways, let’s get into this message, and see what the Lord is going to speak to us through Romans 8:1.

Praise & Worship:

There’s no music video for this message today, but a video with a far more important message than any song can give.  This message is Reverend Billy Graham’s final message to American.  He has literally spent his entire life preaching the Gospel around the globe.  He is our generation’s Oswald Chambers or Smith Wigglesworth or J.C. Ryle.  The thing is…Reverend Graham’s message has never changed because the Gospel and the Bible and Jesus never change.  The Gospel is always the same, the Bible has always been the same, and Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  So, I thought it would be fitting in a message talking about Condemnation, Grace, and Reconciliation that this would be the perfect video to accompany this message…it’s a message inside of a message.

No Condemnation Over Your Head

One of the greatest freedoms I enjoy as a result of no longer being on probation is that I no longer have the punishment for the stupid things I did to get in trouble hanging over my head.  Yes, it’s true that I brought the reasons for being on probation upon myself, but when I was finally released it was wonderfully freeing to not have that kind of worry hanging over my head.  For the better part of a decade I always had to be mindful of what I was doing because the punishment for breaking the law was still hanging over my head.

How many of you know, however, that there is a greater penalty then breaking the law hanging over our heads that Jesus went to the Cross to pay in our place?  How many of you know that Jesus didn’t just completely wipe out our conviction…essentially what He did was plead guilty to the charges God had against us…and took the punishment for all of the sin that we deserved.  That’s the unmerited favor that  Joseph Prince has been talking about this entire series.  I can write with full assurance that there isn’t anything hanging over my head anymore because of what Jesus Christ did in my place.  He paid the penalty for ALL of my sins, so that I could become His righteousness, and now I am in right-standing with Him.  There isn’t anything more for my sins to pay for because the penalty for my sins has already been paid for…and so has YOURS.

Friend, there is nothing hanging over your head anymore neither.  Right now today, if you are a whosoever that has called upon the name of Jesus to be saved you have no sin debt.  Your slate has been wiped clean.  All the charges against you have been dropped and dismissed without prejudice.  That means those things that you think are keeping you from having a relationship with God aren’t keeping you from having a relationship with God at all…how you feel about what you have done is keeping you from having one…because everything you did, everything you are doing, and everything you will ever do that God considers a sin has been paid for by the shed blood of Jesus.

I said it before and I’ll say it again here…the Cross is undefeated.  The Cross has NEVER lost.  The only reason anyone goes to hell today isn’t because they’re sins are sending them there it’s because they are choosing to reject the sacrifice Jesus made on the Cross, and are choosing to make hell their eternal destination.  Let me say that again so you understand what I’m saying.

Your sins are not sending you to hell.  Your refusal to believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that what Jesus did on the Cross was for you.  Your refusal to call upon the name of Jesus to be saved.  YOUR CHOICE TO REJECT JESUS CHRIST IS WHAT IS SENDING YOU TO HELL NOT YOUR SIN.

I know there are many people who will be angry with me for saying that, but it’s the truth.  When ever people talk about how our sins are sending us to hell they’re forgetting about a key passage in 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 that says that God is no longer counting our sins against us because He punished all past, future, and current sin on the Cross.  So, all this talk about sin is to get people to live more religious lives instead of recognizing that those who are in Christ Jesus no longer have a sin problem they have a surrender problem.  If you are a born again believer in Jesus Christ…the sins that you commit now are not keeping you from Heaven, but they are ruining any chance you get at getting good rewards for your works while you are here.

I have spent a lot of time talking about this subject, and I think that we may be revisiting a series I did a while back on Reconciliation once we wrap up this series on Growing In Grace because we all really need to wrap our minds around what was done for us through the Cross so that we can stop allowing the devil, the religious world, and our own Chatterboxes from hanging over our heads the sin and condemnation that comes from our sin.

“Do you believe today that God does not remember your sins? This is a truth that our finite human minds struggle to comprehend.” written by Joseph Prince

You see, here’s the thing.  We remember what we’ve done, but God doesn’t.  When the Bible says that our sins are cast as far as the east from the west into the sea of forgetfulness…that’s exactly what it means.  When the Bible says that once we confess our sin that God “remembers them no more” that’s exactly what the Bible means, and God really doesn’t remember them anymore.  Contrary to popular belief God isn’t sitting up in Heaven with a chalkboard making a mark every time we sin.

In fact, I just thought of a great illustration for this message.  How many of you remember being in school cleaning the chalkboard?  Remember some times that even with all the erasing we had to get a damp sponge to completely wash the chalkboard?  That’s what the Blood of Jesus does to our sin. The Blood of Jesus isn’t the erases that wipes the chalk away leaving a dusty residue…it’s the wet sponge that completely washes everything away.  That’s why we sing the song “what can wash away my sin…nothing but the Blood of Jesus”.

Isn’t it awesome that we have this last message from Billy Graham to accompany this message today?  Go back and listen to any message Billy Graham has preached and I challenge you to find one where he doesn’t talk about the Blood of Jesus being the only acceptable atonement for our sin.  It’s the only thing that can wash the sins and guilt and stains away from sin.

We may remember what we have done, but God does not.  There are sins where I totally messed up with terrible things I’ve done, and do you know that God has never once said to me “Hey Bryan…remember when you did this?  I was so disappointed in you.”  Oh…someone said something that sounded like that, but it wasn’t the Lord.  I promise you that if you ever really sit and think about it you won’t be able to think of one time when God said to you.  “Do you remember when you did this?”  Do you know why God won’t ever say that to you?  Because He doesn’t remember when you did it neither.  Once it’s confessed and washed in the Blood…it’s as if it never happened.

Just like a freshly washed chalkboard leaves no trace of chalk behind…the Blood of Jesus doesn’t leave any trace of the sin behind.  In fact, did you know that when Jesus looks at us He doesn’t even see sin…whenever He looks at one of His children all He sees is Jesus.  When He looks at us…He sees the Blood of the Lamb on the door posts of our hearts.  When He looks at us He sees every punch, every slap, every kick, every stripe, every drop of spit that hit His face…that’s what He sees when He looks at us.  So, when the Bible says that He remembers our sin no more…that’s exactly what it means.

The only ones that remember our sin…the devil, the people we sinned against, and us.

“How can an omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent God not remember our sins? An all-powerful, all-knowing, all-present God should rightly be able to remember every single detail of every sin that we have committed. But that’s not what the Word of God says. God declares, “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more” (Hebrews 8:12). I believe that many believers are fearful to come close to God today and receive what they need from Him because they don’t believe that He truly remembers their sins no more.” – written by Joseph Prince

That last statement by Joseph Prince:  “I believe that many believers are fearful to come close to God today and receive what they need from Him because they don’t believe that He truly remembers their sins no more.” brings us right back to answering the question of whether or not we believe God is truly for us.  Look one of the verses that seeks to answer this question is Hebrews 4:15-16.

“For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” – Hebrews 4:15-16 (NASB)

The King James says that we can approach the throne boldly with confidence that we will obtain grace and mercy in our time of need.  We have a God that can empathize and understand what we’re going through because He went through it also.  We have a God who knows us, understands us, and relates to us better than anyone else in the world can or ever will.  The answer to every one of those questions is an emphatic “Amen” which means “So Be It” which means “unequivocally and absolutely YES” God DOES love you, YES God DOES completely forgive AND forget, and YES God really IS for you and never, every against you.

Friends.  That’s what the Cross was all about.  The Cross what God laying down everything He had so that we could enjoy it with Him.  The reason we can boldly and confidently approach Him today is because of the Blood of Jesus that has redeemed us.  We are saved, redeemed, washed, cleansed, and because of Jesus we are in right-standing with God.  So, there’s no reason to approach Him or be afraid to approach Him because He loves us and He wants us to approach Him.

We can receive everything we need from Him because He is ready, willing, and able to help us in our time of need.  No matter what happens.  There’s no sin too great that God cannot and will not forgive.  There is nothing you or I can do to separate ourselves from His love.  We have a God that always has an open door policy.  There is never a time that God is going to turn you away…His arms are always open.  He is always watching down the drive way for us prodigal son’s and daughter’s to come home so He can run to us.

Beloved I desperately hope that as you’re reading this message you have been watching the video of Billy Graham’s final message to America.  That’s what this message and every message is really all about.  The message of hope that is found in the one and only place it can always be found…At the Cross.  Jesus died to give us full access to the Father.  That’s why John 14:6 (KJV) is my favorite verse because it tells us everything we need to know.  Everything in the Christian life and walk is about Jesus.  It’s all about Jesus, it’s all for Jesus, and it’s all because of Jesus.

So, as we close this message by giving Joseph Prince the last word, and as you listen to the last of the message by Billy Graham…I pray that if you have never accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior that you’ll do so now.  It’s really easy to do…in fact…the way to salvation is at the end of the video.  But, if you don’t watch it I’m going to give you an opportunity to make Jesus Lord and Savior of your life too.

Come to Jesus just as you are.  You don’t have to clean up anything.  Just come.  Ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior…and leave the results to Him.  Let’s give Joseph Prince the last word, and close.

My friend, simply believe God’s Word that through the provision of Jesus’ sacrifice, God indeed remembers your sins no more! Start living without the cloud of guilt, shame, condemnation and judgment over your head. Stand bold and righteous in Christ and expect to receive His best! Written by Joseph Prince

Let’s Pray:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your deliverance. We know You paid a very high price to give it to us. Forgive us, Father God, for not letting that deliverance make our hearts soar with confident joy. Lead us, Lord God, by the power of Your Spirit so that we can experience the freedom and joy of Your salvation — not just at the end of our days, but in the moments of today. Thank you, Almighty God, for Your plan to pay my ransom and to liberate me from sin and death. Thank You for the confidence I have because of Your incomparable grace given to me through Jesus. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

In Closing:

I know that Billy Graham gave an altar call at the end of the video, but I’d be willing to bet some of you never watched it.  So, I never like to close a message like this without giving you an opportunity to become a whosoever that’s called upon the name of the Lord to be saved.  So…let me take a moment and do the most important thing I do when it comes to ministry.  This part of the message is the most important part there has ever been and there every will be.

Do You Know Without A Doubt Where You Will Spend Eternity?

Has anyone ever told you that God loves you and Has a wonderful plan for your life?  I have a real quick, but important question to ask you.

If you were to die right now, this very second, do you know for sure, beyond a shadow of doubt, that you would go to Heaven?

Can I quickly share with you what the Bible reads?  It says that “for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” and that “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”  Isn’t that Good News?  The Bible also reads, “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

You are a “whosoever” aren’t you?

I am going to say a quick prayer for you.  “Lord, bless the person who is reading this right now and their family with long and healthy lives.  Jesus, make Yourself real to them, and do a quick work in their hearts.  If the reader(s) have not received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, I pray that they would do so now.

Friend…if you would like to receive the free gift that God has for you today, say this after me with your heart and lips out loud.

“Dear Lord Jesus, come into my heart.  Forgive me of my sin.  Wash me and cleanse me.  Set me free.  Jesus, thank You that You died for me.  I believe that You are risen from the dead and that You’re coming back again for me.  Fill me with the Holy Spirit.  Give me a passion for the lost, a hunger for the things of God, and a holy boldness to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I am saved:  I’m born again.  I am forgiven, and I am on my way to Heaven because I have Jesus in my heart.  In Jesus’ Name Amen.”

As a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I tell you today that ALL of your sins are forgiven.  Always remember to run to God and not from God because He loves you and has a great plan for your life.

We would just like to be able to connect with you and find out if we can pray for you.  We’d also like to encourage you to find a good, solid Bible based church…and let them know that you have recently accepted Jesus Christ…and ask them to get you plugged in to New Believers, Small Groups, and anything else they can do to help you get going in your walk with God.

Welcome to not only the Christlike Ministries NWA Family…but to the biggest family of all…God’s Family.
