Your Toil Is Not In Vain
Good Morning Everyone,
I’ve almost got us where we’re supposed to be, and it’s funny that a verse like this should come up as I’m working to catch us up so we can move forward. I have to add another scripture to this message, and then we’ll get into the Christlike Ministries NWA Daily Devotional for Sunday February 15, 2015.
Here’s our Scriptures…
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. — 1 Corinthians 15:58 (NASB)
Anyone who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor. — Galatians 6:6 (NIV)
If there is one topic that I find harder to write about than any other…it’s the topic about financially supporting ministries that feed you spiritually. Part of the reason has to do with the prosperity message today, and the other part is that most preachers have become salesmen rather than preachers. It’s hard to talk about the fact that for many people (myself included) full-time or even part-time ministry really is a job, but it’s the only job where our salaries are dependent upon the Lord impressing it into the hearts of our congregations (or in my case followers) to support us. It’s also the one of only a few jobs where it offends people when you bring up the fact that operating a ministry takes money, and that the money we need to operate our ministries doesn’t grow on some magical tree…it comes from our followers.
Yet, the Bible tells me not to grow weary in well-doing because in due time I will reap a harvest, and so I continue to work and write and do what the Lord has called me to do trusting that God will provide. I wrote the other day that depending upon God is one of the hardest, but best places to be. God is faithful, but the truth is people aren’t.
Being in ministry is one of those jobs that no one really notices until they’re asked to do things like vote for topics, add members to it’s group, or give money to help out financially. When you start asking people to support your ministry financially that’s when you find out who is really with you, and who just says they are.
I’m going to continue my ministry, however. I’m going to keep doing what God has called me to do because His Word promises that the work I do will not be done in vain. So, while it gets frustrating and discouraging some times I am thankful for the Word of God that reminds me that nothing that I do for the Lord is done in vain.
I never thought I would be in the position I am in where I need the financial support of my followers to help Christlike Ministries NWA to continue to grow and do the things God has called me to do. It’s a good problem to have because it means that Christlike Ministries NWA has grown enough where asking for financial support is necessary…and that I’ve found favor in God’s sight. For those who know me I didn’t arrive at the decision to start seeking financial help for the ministry lightly, but those who know me well also know that I will do whatever it takes to make sure Christlike Ministries NWA is here to stay.
So, in closing I would just simply like to ask that if you are being fed spiritually by Christlike Ministries NWA that you would consider helping us our financially. We really do need your help, and it’s right biblically for us to ask for it.
Holy God, You sent the Living Word so that we could know You. Thank You for those who have shared Your Word with us. We ask You to bless the Bible teachers, the ministers of the Word, and the pastor-teachers who have shared Your truth and grace with us. Your Word says how beautiful the feet are those who preach and teach Your Word. It also says it’s right for us to bless them and withhold no good thing from those who need our help. We ask that You would protect them. Strengthen their will. Bless their families. Fill them with Your Spirit and power. And Father God, please use us to help them know how precious they are to us and to You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Yes, there are those who take advantage of God’s flock and misuse God’s money. This is tragic because many of God’s servants of the Word all over the world minister with few economic resources or financial support. While God never promised ministers of the Word economic wealth, he does remind us of the importance of caring for them.
I can assure you that no funds that come in for the ministry ever go towards my own personal use. I always put whatever money that comes in to the ministry towards ministry expenses. The problem is there isn’t any money coming in to put towards ministry expenses. Things like printer ink, paper, and there’s the cost of keeping the www.christlikeministriesnwa.com registered to Christlike Ministries NWA.
Let’s use this week as a time that we make sure those who share God’s word with us are supported in ways that enables God’s ministry through them. Let’s also remember that sharing “all good things” means much more than money! Let’s keep our missionaries, our ministers, and our teachers in our prayers. Let’s commit to send them regular notes of specific encouragement so their ministry will be a blessing not only to us and the Lord, but also to them!
Have you been blessed by this ministry? Would you like to help me out?
Here are some really practical ways you can help me out.
1) Engage – I don’t always have time to reply to everyone but I read every single comment and post on here. I reply to every message and email and every one blesses me! Please do get involved and let me get to know you in the little ways we can online.
2) Share – If you love the posts here, or maybe an article on the website… please share it on Facebook or Twitter… it really helps new people find this ministry and be blessed by the good news of the gospel…and tell people about us.
3) Pray – We really value your prayers. Pray for this message to find good soil – that God would continue to bring new faces to this ministry that are ready to accept His embrace.
4) Give – Running a ministry is a lot like running a business. There’s always a cost, and if this ministry blesses you in any way…you can now help by giving to it financially. I’ve set up a ministry card that is used specifically for ministry needs & expenses. If you’d like to give to this ministry contact me directly at email@example.com
for more information.
Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support. All of you who follow me are of great encouragement to me…and I’m grateful for all of you.
Blessings & Grace to you!
