The Bible Is One Sharp Book

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I hope everyone is having a pleasant weekend, and if you had the opportunity to attend church today that you were able to encounter Jesus.  It’s time for the Christlike Ministries NWA Daily Devotional for Sunday February 8, 2015, and here is a good scripture of the day to talk about.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)

The Word of God.  There isn’t another book in the world like it.  It’s the only book that is a historical account, and provides a glimpse into what we can expect to happen in the future.  It’s the only book that has written it’s story, and continues to write it’s story yet today.  It’s the only book that has an author that isn’t just writing the book, but that IS the Book.  The Bible is the only book in the world that truly holds the answers to everything this world needs, and it’s the only book that is truly alive.

I’ve written a great deal about the Word of God.  I’ve spent many times issuing challenges to find a time throughout your day to get immersed in it, and take time to read and study it daily.  I wrote an entire 32 message series Why Read The Bible? three years ago.  If you’re keeping track…that means it was the first teaching series I penned.

The Bible is our cornerstone, friends.  Jesus told us to search the scriptures daily, and Jesus also used the Word of God to show us that it’s the single most important weapon in the arsenal we have as Christians.  The Word of God is powerful, the Word of God is sharp, and it’s the one book that we as Christians spend the least amount of time reading.  I know this because less than 20% of Bible believing Christians actually take the time to read, study, and search the Word of God on a regular basis.  Over 80% don’t read it enough or at all.

That’s why there are so many Christians who blindly follow false preachers and teachers today.  That’s why there are so many Christians who don’t know what they believe or why.  That’s why there are so many churches that have no signs or wonders or power in them…because when you eliminate the Word of God from the pulpits…then you eliminate the ability of the Holy Ghost to move.

The ability for the Holy Ghost to move is tied to the Word of God.  If you need proof just look at Genesis chapter 1.  God said and then the Holy Ghost did.  The Holy Ghost didn’t do anything until God said.  The Holy Ghost hovered until God spoke…and then the signs and wonders followed.

Many of you are wondering why there’s no move of God in your churches…and I can tell you that the reason is most churches have replaced the Word of God from their pulpits for more entertaining books.  The Holy Ghost isn’t obligated to show signs and wonders with any other book than the Word of God.  The Purpose Driven Life may be a wonderful book to read on your personal time, but it’s not fit to be preached from the pulpit.  Paul told us to preach the Word of God…not some author’s book.

Listen, I use what others write to illustrate my messages, but what they write or what I write for that matter is still no substitute for the Word of God.  The Bible is the foundation of Christlike Ministries NWA…and as far as this pastor is concerned…the Bible is one sharp Book!

Let’s Pray:

Father, in the name of Jesus I pray for a revival and renewing fire and hunger for Your Word among Your people.  In Jesus name. Amen

In Closing:

The Word of God is the voice of God.  We will never get to know what the Voice of our Shepherd sounds like if we never take the time to read what He wrote.  There are many that think the Bible is outdated or no longer valid, but not me.  The Word of God IS alive and powerful, and as you have read from the last few messages.  As we know from John Chapter 1 that Word of God IS God…and the best way for us to know and understand what God’s will for us is comes from searching and studying the scriptures.

That’s what a daily devotional is about…it’s about devoting time daily to the reading and studying of the Word of God so that we can apply it to our lives, and so that we can use what we’ve read to defeat the devil.

Here’s simple test.  The next time you are trying to defeat the devil try quoting something written by Rick Warren, and when he’s finished laughing at you quote the Word of God…and see what happens!

Have a blessed day in the Lord…and READ YOUR BIBLES!

Blessings & Grace;
