He Is Not A Way…He Is THE Way

He Is Not A Way…He is The Way!

Good Evening Everyone & Happy Hump Day!

I am excited about today’s Christlike Ministries NWA Devotional for Wednesday February 4, 2015 because the Scripture of the Day is one of my favorites, and is also one of my main sources of frustration with some of the most popular preachers on television and radio today.  Any of you that have followed me for any length of time you know how I feel about this verse, and how I feel about those that think there’s some kind of grey area in it open for discussion.

So, let’s take a look at our Scripture of the Day, and then we’ll get into what’s already burning the tip of my fingers!

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. – John 14:6 (NKJV)

The thing that gets under my skin more than anything else is people that call themselves Bible believing preachers, and then they have a national audience with an opportunity to really make a difference…and they blow it by saying that Jesus isn’t the only way or that God and Allah are the same God.

What the What!?!  How in the world can you claim to be a Bible believing preacher, and then turn around to say that all religions basically pray to the same god we do and that deny that the only way to be saved is by believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth that Jesus Christ as Lord.

I’ll help you.  You can’t.

The reason I like verses like John 14:6 is because I’m one of those guys that likes direct, to the point verses that say exactly what they mean and mean exactly what they say.

Listen, if it’s written in red letters…that means Jesus is speaking, and the greatest bible scholar or theologian in the world could tell me that Jesus didn’t really mean what He said in John 14:6…and I wouldn’t listen.  There are plenty of things in the bible than can and are open for discussion…but when it’s written in red…that means not only did the Holy Ghost bring those things that Jesus spoke to the writer of those words…but it’s God speaking them Himself.

Don’t you think that if it was important enough to God to say it Himself through Jesus…remember that Jesus said that He only says what He hears the Father say…so with that understanding you read the red letters a little differently because it is God speaking directly to us through Jesus.  So, when Jesus says:  “ I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life, and no man can get to the Father but by Me.” there is no other way to interpret that verse because God said it Himself.

Friends…the read letters is God speaking directly to us through Jesus.  Now, if that doesn’t help you to read the red letters of the New Testament any differently I can’t help you…and when He says there’s no other way to come to Him, but through Jesus Christ…then that’s exactly what He means.

This even ties in to what we’ve been talking about over the last few days.  Jesus isn’t “A Way” to God…He is THE Way.  Jesus isn’t “A Truth”…He is THE Truth. Jesus isn’t just “A Life”…He is The Life.  Jesus isn’t just one of many ways to be saved or to get to God or to become a citizen of Heaven…no He’s not A Way…He’s The Way!

Let’s Pray:

Holy God and Righteous Father, give us a passion to take a stand for Jesus and a heart that desires to make Him known and famous above all.  Give us the courage to stand up to those who deny Him, and the boldness to declare to the world that Jesus isn’t just a way…but that He is the Only Way. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

In Closing:

I often take a moment when I talk about this verse to give the reminder that if those who are trying to get to God any other way than a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ…they aren’t going to get where they think they’re going.  There is no Christian pope, there is no backdoor or back channels into Heaven, and there is no truth to the lie that every religion is basically praying to the same God.

Peter writes in one of the more popular verses of the Bible of Jesus: “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 (NASB), and that is still the only way by which we must be saved today.

Jesus…there’s no other Name like it, there’s no other god like Him, and there is no other way but Him. Amen!?!

I don’t ever like to close a message like this without making sure that everyone that is reading it has a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and if you don’t…then the most important decision and thing you will ever do in your life comes down to this one decision.

Remember there were two thieves.  One continued to deny Jesus with his last breath, and has been awaiting eternal punishment ever since.  One recognized that Jesus was the Son of God, called Jesus Lord, and is with Jesus in Paradise right now.

Which one do you want to be?  The one awaiting eternal punishment or the one that’s assured that if you were to die tonight you would be present with the Lord the very next moment.

If you have never accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior or if you did at one point, and walked away from Him…don’t wait another moment.  Take this moment right now to be just like the thief on the cross next to Jesus that recognized his need for a Savior…and called upon the name of Jesus to be saved.

It’s not hard.  Just believe in your heart that what Jesus did on the Cross was for you, and confess with your mouth that you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior…and you will have the same assurance and citizenship in Heaven as I do.

Just pray something like this…

God, I’m a sinner. Forgive me Lord. I receive Jesus as my Savior. I trust Him as my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!!

Thanks for following along everyone.  If you enjoy these devotionals, and are being blessed by this ministry won’t you please consider sowing into Christlike Ministries NWA financially.  This year God is wanting us to do a lot more than just write and post things on Facebook, and we need YOUR help to do that. It doesn’t take much to make a difference.

Have a blessed evening everyone!  Thank you all for your faithful prayers and support.

Blessings & Grace;

Pastor B
