Scripture Of The Day:  Romans 8:6-8 (NASB)

“For the mind-set on the flesh is death, but the mind-set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind-set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”  Romans 8:6-8 (NASB)

What’s On Your Mind?

Good Evening Everyone,

As promised, we will be caught up with our daily devotional posts as soon as I hit the publish button on the Christlike Ministries NWA Daily Devotional for Wednesday January 28, 2015, but there’s this thing about writing a devotional message before I can do that.  So, here’s our Scripture of the Day, and then we’ll get into the message.

I often chuckle about the fact that Facebook’s question to get us to post something is: “What’s on your mind?”, and then we find out. Of course, if I’m writing about this in the context of Romans 8:6 that tells us that much of what’s on our minds shouldn’t ever be posted for the world to see…should it?

I’m a fan of ESPN’s Herm Edwards because of his notorious quote “don’t press send” when sports stars put something on Twitter or Facebook that they shouldn’t have.  The thing that’s even funnier is that still small voice on the inside of me sounds like that now whenever I’m about to post or share or tweet something that wouldn’t be edifying or pleasing to the Lord.

You see, the fleshly mind is hostile towards God, and that’s the reason why we need to be careful what we’re putting out there on social media for all the world to read.  A while back I rebuked some  people who were supposed to be Christians that were sharing things on Twitter that had inappropriate pictures and profanity laced tweets that were anything but edifying to the Body of Christ.

Friends, this is one of those things that’s a touchy subject because not everything I like or tweet about or post is about the Bible.  I like sports stories, stuff about good cigars, and other things…but there’s a limit to what I will allow and what I will share on my Facebook or Twitter feeds.

The Bible says we’re to do all that we do for God’s glory, and I’m well aware that we all (including myself) fall short of that.  This isn’t a message telling you to clean up your timelines and share nothing but Bible verses.  It’s just a message to encourage you to keep in mind what’s on your mind as you are pressing send.

We know in our hearts there’s that little voice inside of us that may or may not sound like ESPN’s Herm Edwards “ to you…but whatever that voice sounds like just be more careful with what you are allowing on your Facebook and  Twitter feeds…and what YOU are putting on your Facebook and  Twitter feeds.

So, let’s all be a little more mindful when it comes to answering Facebook question: “What’s on your mind?”

Let’s Pray:

Father God, times are certainly much different today then when these verses were penned, but while the times have changed Your Word has not. Help us, Lord, to be more mindful of what’s really on our minds and what we post shows is really on our minds…and if it’s something that’s going to dishonor You, Lord…help us to remember to not press send.  Forgive us for the things that we have on our minds that are hostile towards You, and help us to renew our minds more and more with Your Word.  In Jesus name. Amen & Amen

In Closing:

Friends, we have to remember Jesus’ words that what’s inside of us isn’t what defiles us, but comes from our mouths.  We also need to remember that what we put out there on social media is an extension of what’s coming from our mouths.  We need to remember to do like James said these days, and not only tame our tongues…but what we’re tweeting and posting too.

Christlike Ministries NWA Family, I have to take a moment to be honest and speak to y’all from the heart. I know many of you still think that this is a hobby, and that I should get a job instead of asking my followers to consider giving to help keep Christlike Ministries NWA online.

First of all, we only have one running vehicle at the moment, and I don’t live in an area where I can just walk some where or catch a bus, and so any work that I’d get I would have to be able to do from home…and as you know most home based jobs are scams…and we don’t have the time or money to invest in some thing that’s a scam.

Secondly, I have two of the most important jobs I’ve ever had.  One being a stay at home dad, and the other being the pastor of Christlike Ministries NWA.  Neither of those jobs come with a salary or an allowance, and like any other ministry family we are dependent upon the Lord to provide and meet our needs…for our family.  Now, that this ministry is going into it’s third year, has grown to over 1,000 followers, and reaching nearly 200 nations…God has released me to turn to you, my followers, and ask you to consider sowing financially into this ministry.

Finally, I’m not asking you to invest your entire life’s savings or paycheck.  I’m simply asking you to consider sowing financially into Christlike Ministries NWA.

n fact, for a limited time, I have the ability and connection to be able to send anyone a free devotional book titled: “Growing In Christ” by Arnie Cole & Michael Ross.

For more information and how you can sow into Christlike Ministries NWA and get your copy of “Growing In Christ” please write me in the contact form at the bottom of this post or you can write me directly at christlikeministriesarkansas@yahoo.com.

Well, friends, thank you for reading this message, and for listening to my heart.  This is my job, friends.  I am doing what God’s called and anointed me to do, and now the hard part is getting that message into your hearts.  I hope and pray that you guys will come to see that this ministry is worth sowing and investing into, and with that I will thank you in advance for whatever you can do.

Have a blessed and relaxing evening.  I hope y’all will join me back here again tomorrow for the Christlike Ministries NWA Daily Devotional.

Blessings & Grace to you;

Bryan Kizer – Pastor
