Scripture Reference: 2 Timothy 3:14-17
And we’re back to talking about the importance of the Bible in the lives of a believer. Have you noticed that in order for us to be great leaders whether it’s in our homes, in a church, in our work place, or just in our circle of people…the greatest need of all leaders is to use the Bible as their guide? I mean this is message number 6, and the majority of the messages have been about how important to us the Bible is…and that should speak volumes to us.
So, without much delay I’m going to get right into today’s message, and see what the Lord would have to speak to us today. As always, please believe with me for ears to hear, eyes to see, and hearts that are receptive and responsive to what the Lord would speak to us this day thru this message.
Today’s Message: “Thoroughly Equipped”
We just can’t seem to get away from talking about the importance of the Bible in the lives of leaders, can we? From day one we have been talking about how important the Bible is to the life of anyone in leadership, and that those in leadership really ought to look to the Bible as their instruction manual, their ultimate authority, and I want you to know that as for this ministry and this pastor…the Bible is the primary authority at Christlike Ministries NWA. We believe that the Bible always has and always will have the final say…because we believe the Word of God is the Will of God…and while there are many good books that are full of good information…the ONLY book that has the power to change lives is the only book this pastor preaches from.
In fact, just so you know exactly what we believe about the Bible…let me just share what our foundational beliefs about the Bible are.
We believe the Scriptures of the Old Testament and New Testament are verbally inspired by God and inerrant in their original writings. We believe the 66 books of the Old Testament and the New Testament are God’s complete and sufficient revelation and therefore carry God’s authority for the total well-being of mankind (Psalm 119:97-104; Psalm 119:160; Matthew 5:18; John 5:46-47; John 10:35; 2 Timothy 3:15-16).
Here at Christlike Ministries NWA I teach, preach, read, and believe the Bible is the only book Christians need. I have never had anything against preachers who write books because I’ve read a lot of them. I have nothing against using something in a book to illustrate a message…that’s basically what I do with these messages, but I have an enormous problem with preachers who would rather use Rick Warren’s “Purpose Filled Life” to preach from then the Word of God. I have news for you…GOD HAS A PROBLEM WITH IT ALSO!
Listen, God exalts His Word above His own name! If God exalts His Word above His Name…don’t you think we ought to make sure we exalt the Word of God above Joel Osteen’s “How To Live Your Best Life Now”? Furthermore, don’t you think that the main book preached from whether it’s in a church or on Twitter is the Word of God!?!
I can’t even get into the meat of this message yet because I’m always having to deal with these preachers who think the Bible is outdated, unentertaining, and therefore should take a back seat in the church.
LISTEN TO ME PREACHER…GOD TAKES A BACK SEAT TO NO ONE. GOD’S WORD TAKES A BACK SEAT TO NOBODY’S NOVEL I DON’T CARE HOW MANY WEEKS IT’S BEEN A NUMBER ONE SELLER…THE WORD OF GOD HAS BEEN A NUMBER ONE SELLER FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS. IF YOU ARE PREACHING FROM ANY OTHER BOOK THAN THE BIBLE THEN YOU ARE PREACHING A FALSE GOSPEL…YOU ARE PREACHING A COUNTERFEIT GOSPEL…AND IF YOU THINK THAT GOD IS OKAY WITH YOU PREACHING FROM ANYONE ELSE’S BOOK…BUT HIS…YOU ARE TERRIBLY DECEIVED AND YOU ARE ABOUT TO HAVE A WAKE UP CALL THAT YOU’RE NOT GOING TO LIKE. GOD IS NOT OKAY WITH YOU PREACHING THUS SAITH JOEL OSTEEN…HE CREATED JOEL OSTEEN. GOD IS NOT OKAY WITH YOU PREACHING THUS SAITH RICK WARREN…HE CREATED RICK WARREN. GOD IS NOT OKAY WITH YOU PREACHING THUS SAITH JOYCE MEYERS…HE CREATED JOYCE MEYERS. GOD IS NOT OKAY WITH HIS WORD TAKING A BACK SEAT TO ANYONE’S BOOK WHETHER ITS GOOD SOUND BIBLICAL TRUTH OR NOT…THERE’S NO POWER IN ANYONE ELSE’S BOOK. THE POWER IS IN THE WORD OF GOD…AND THAT IS ALSO THE BOOK THAT YOU ARE GOING TO BE JUDGED BY IN THE END. SO I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU TAKE A GOOD, LONG HARD LOOK AT WHY YOU HAVE PUT THE BIBLE ON THE SHELF AND PICKED UP TD JAKES BOOK OFF THE SHELF AND PUT IT IN YOUR PULPIT…BECAUSE NO OTHER BOOK BELONGS WHERE THE BIBLE BELONGS…PERIOD.
Well, I could probably end this message right there, but there’s a lot more to get to. So, with all that being said…let’s look at what else God has to say to us today.
1 and 2 Timothy are great sources of encouragement to pastors and church leaders. Today, there is a great need for more mentoring and disciplining of leaders (and followers) in the church. The church must be generationally linked in this age of collaboration. What was Paul’s primary focus in his directives to Timothy, the young pastor of the Church at Ephesus? Arguably it is the teaching and preaching of God’s Word. Over 30 times in his short letters, Paul uses the words “preach,” “teaching,” “train,” “Scripture” and “Word of God.” Paul is using his affirmations and directives in these two letters not only to guide this disciple-pastor, but to build his confidence in the Word of God.
These two books that Paul wrote to Timothy really are a great resource for those of us who are called to ministry to get personal instruction from Paul, and who wouldn’t want that? You know, there’s often a question of who would you like to sit down and have lunch with? One of those people for me would be Paul. Yeah, you know, everyone answers that they would like to sit down and have lunch with Jesus, but for me…I would like to sit down with Paul. Then again, I have this thought that he would spend most of that lunch scolding me, and so I kind of feel that while I would like to sit down with Paul that would be almost as intimidating as sitting down for lunch with Jesus.
But, these two books were written to Timothy by Paul. I don’t know about anyone else, but I would give anything to have been discipled by Paul. Let me just stop for a moment here, and speak on the fact that we all need someone to impart into our lives. I was blessed enough for about five years to sit underneath the teaching of the man that I credit as being my father in the faith, and those years of sitting under his teachings were vital in helping me to become the man I am today. I am still sitting underneath the teaching of someone else today. I have never reached a point where I feel like I know all there is to know…because I know there’s always more revelation I need.
I was even lucky enough to be discipled for a time by the Holy Ghost. It happened to come through about two years worth of jail time, but that’s where He taught me how to properly interpret and divide the Word of God. The Holy Ghost took the time to impart and pour into me knowledge much like Jesus did with Paul. You do know that Jesus personally preached to Paul…and therefore that’s one of the reasons why Paul is one of my people of choice to sit and have lunch with. He got his information from Jesus first hand.
So, it’s important that we as ministry people have people who we are submitted to because it’s those people we are submitted to that hold us accountable, hold us up in prayer, and who also teach us how to be better ministers. They model for us how to be servants of God, and I don’t know about anyone else…but when I was made aware that God saw me as a pastor…I wasn’t really sure how to do that…so I needed my pastor to show me how to conduct myself as a pastor.
You see, these are also things that we gain here from the books of 1 and 2 Timothy. Paul instructs us through his instructions to Timothy how to conduct ourselves as ministers, pastors, preachers, and teachers. These books are written to those of us who are called to lead congregations, and feed the sheep of God.
Listen, I know there’s plenty of good books out there about how to be a good, successful pastor, but there are two great books right here in THE BOOK. 1 and 2 Timothy is full of instructions on how to be good, successful pastors…and it’s also full of what not to do…and one of the main things we’re NOT TO DO IS FORSAKE PREACHING THE WORD OF GOD.
Again, I have no issue and neither does God have any issues with reading books that are good, sound Bible based books. I have read quite a few books myself, but the problem comes when we use the books we read to replace the Bible as the authority and as the book we preach and teach from. Listen, I just told you a moment ago that if you think God doesn’t have a problem with His Word taking a back seat to Charles Stanley’s latest book…you are sadly mistaken…and you are going to have to answer for that.
If you could sit across from Paul at a table and have him instruct you as growing pastors in the art of gaining confidence in the Word of God, here are a few things he would likely say with urgency:
I promise you I did not read ahead…but as I just said I would love to sit across the table from Paul, and have him instruct me. So, let’s just see what kinds of things this devotional writer thinks he would say…and see what we can learn from them.
“GROW IN IT PERSONALLY!” – Our confidence in God’s Word as followers (and as leaders) comes from our consistent exposure to it. It is difficult to imagine a more important goal to have as a pastor than filling your life, your home and your church with the Bible, and training your congregation to do the same.
Friends, I don’t know how many ways I can tell you that the most important book in our walk with Christ isn’t written by Charles Swindoll or John Piper or John MacArthur or Lester Sumrall or Oswald Chambers or Smith Wigglesworth or Joel Osteen or Rick Warren or TD Jakes or Dr. Tony Evans or Charles Stanley. The single most important book to pastors, preachers, teachers, apostles, evangelists or plain ordinary Christians everywhere is the Holy Bible…period.
I have nothing against reading books by other Christian authors. I love Dr. Tony Evans. I have a few books by Charles Stanley and Chuck Swindoll and even Smith Wigglesworth in my library…but can I tell you that while I’ve gained a lot from reading those books…there’s nothing compared to getting good, solid revelation from the Word of God. I have grown more by reading the Word of God than by reading any other book.
Heck, even the books I read in the classroom as a child don’t come close to comparing to what I’ve gained by reading the Bible. The knowledge and understanding and wisdom that comes from reading the Bible is vastly greater than I receive from anyone else’s book.
So, the Bible says that it (the Bible) is able to make me become thoroughly equipped to serve, love, and walk with God all by itself. In other words, the Bible doesn’t need help from anyone else to educate me in the things of God…and that’s why it’s so important that while we may read these books by other preachers and pastors that we never…ever substitute them for the Word of God.
As I mentioned earlier…the Word of God takes a back seat to no one else’s book, and if you’re preaching the latest novel by Rick Warren instead of the Word of God…God is not impressed nor is He okay with it…in fact I am convinced that He is insulted and very angry with all of the other stuff that’s taken the place of His Word…and I’m also convinced that He’s about to remove some of those churches lampstands if they don’t return the Word of God to it’s rightful place.
“UNDERSTAND IT DEEPLY!” – Our confidence in God’s Word increases as we recognize its authority. Paul was unequivocal about his conviction that the Scripture is thoroughly authoritative. “Everything in the Scriptures is God’s Word” (v. 16). In your congregation, the church will be as certain of the Word of God as their leader.
As mentioned earlier…the Bible is the ultimate authority when it comes to Christlike Ministries NWA. The Bible is the foundation of Christlike Ministries NWA, and it is the only book that Christlike Ministries NWA teaches from.
Yes, I do write these messages based off devotional articles written on the YouVersion Online Bible, but everything else is based on the Bible. The rest of what I write comes directly from impartation from and by God through the Holy Ghost. I write very little about what thus saith Bryan, and a whole lot of what thus saith the Lord…because I don’t want any of this to be about me…because it’s not about me…it’s about Him…period!
This last line here is very important to me…that you…my readers are as certain of the Word of God as I am…and that the Word of God is as important to you as it is to me. I don’t want you…my readers to be part of the over 75% of Christians who barely or never reads their Bibles.
Friends, knowing the Word of God is going to be absolutely critical from this point forward. There’s so much false doctrine and teachings today on Christian television and radio. There’s so much false accursed gospels being preached today…and the ONLY way for us to discern between good, solid truth and the garbage being spewed from the pulpits is by having a clear, deep understanding of the Bible…THE BIBLE. Not Rick Warren’s book because he no longer believes that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven…nor does Joel Osteen, but you wouldn’t know that if you didn’t know the Bible says that Jesus Christ isn’t “A way”…Jesus Christ is THE ONLY WAY.
“Paul was unequivocal about his conviction that the Scriptures is thoroughly authoritative.” Oh Lord, that those in the pulpits would have that same conviction that the Bible is the sole authority…and has the sole authority…the church would be so much more powerful if it would just return the Word of God to it’s rightful place in the church.
“COMMUNICATE IT BOLDLY!” – Our confidence in God’s Word is strengthened when we find that it is useful. For Paul, ministry flowed out of God’s Word. Ministry was simply doing what God says we are to do. At one point Paul says plainly and simply to Timothy: “Preach God’s message” (2 Tim. 4:2).
Boy, can you imagine what the church would be like if all the preachers were bold and unashamed to preach the one true gospel? Can you imagine what an impact Joel Osteen would have if he would preach all of the Word of God instead of the all-inclusive spiritual motivational speaking he does? Can you imagine if Rick Warren would get back to preaching that Jesus Christ is the only way, and that there’s no other name given by which men can be saved? Can you imagine the impact that Joyce Meyers and Creflo Dollar and Kenneth Copeland and TD Jakes would stop preaching prosperity and start preaching true repentance?
What an awkward moment it is when I turn on TBN, and turn it off because there’s someone preaching about prosperity instead of repentance. They promise that if you will send them $1,000 that God will pay off their mortgage, and all kinds of other things. Donnie Swaggart calls them nothing more than prosperity pimps…and it’s true because their sermons sound more like sales pitches than anything else. Send me this amount of money and I will send you a double portion of my anointing…like the anointing of the Holy Ghost is for sale. I can imagine that Jesus would be overturning many a churches money tables today, and flat-out angry at the misuse of His Word for profitable gains.
For those who think that it doesn’t bother God that His Word is being used for profitable gain…you might want to check out the book of Revelations from the end of Chapter 1 all the way to Chapter 3 as the seven letters to the seven pastors of the seven churches. I can assure you that there are many churches today where Jesus may be praising a few things, and then He says “but I have this against you”.
PREACHERS LISTEN TO ME ONE MORE TIME. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to get to Heaven, and have Jesus say to me “I have this against you”. I want to be sure that I never, ever forsake my first love. I don’t ever want to be accused of setting aside the Word of God for something more appealing, more entertaining or worse. I will never, ever have magic shows or secular concerts if I ever have a building because none of that belongs in the church.
I don’t know who I am talking to, but I know there are some of you reading this thinking who in the world is this dude talking to me about what I preach from my pulpit. I’ll tell you who I am. I am a man of God…just like you. I am called by God to “Preach the Word”…just like you. I am accountable to Preach the Word…just like you. I am going to be judged for every idle word I preach…just like you. I am going to be judged according to the Bible…just like you. I may not have your fancy doctorate degree in theology. I may not have a Mega-Church with thousands of members. I may not have been to fourteen different countries. But what I do have is the same call you have…to preach the gospel…and that gospel is found ONLY in the Word of God.
I don’t always enjoy reading the Bible. It’s not always very entertaining. But one thing you will NOT catch this pastor doing is allowing ANYTHING to take the place of the Word of God. There is and there ARE NO SUBSTITUTES for what THUS SAITH THE LORD.
You may look down your nose. You may not even listen. You may not like what’s written in this message, and you may ever write me a nasty email…but before you pen that email…before you think that what I have said doesn’t apply to you…take a moment to think…and I mean really think about the last time you made the Bible the only book that is preached from your pulpit.
What book are you preaching out of right now? Is it the Bible or is in the latest book by Joel Osteen or TD Jakes or whoever? What book are you patterning your life after? Is it the Bible or “How To Life Your Best Life Now”? Do you preach the Bible with the same boldness you preach Rick Warren’s book? Do you honestly believe God doesn’t have a problem with you preferring to preach from Joyce Meyer’s book over the Word of God because her book is more entertaining and less confronting about people’s sin…or even deeper…your own sin?
I am not here to be popular folks. I here preach whatever God lays upon my heart, and this topic of Bible Study has been going on since I did the “Why Read The Bible” series. The reason I can’t get away from this topic is because the Holy Ghost is angry about how little of God’s Word is being preached in the pulpits. The Holy Ghost cannot do anything if the Word of God isn’t spoken. I know you wonder why it is that there’s no power, no anointing, no move of the Holy Ghost in your church. I know you wonder why so many people in your congregation are struggling to barely get by. I know you’re wondering why people aren’t getting healed, saved, set free or delivered.
THE REASON THERE IS NO POWER IN YOUR CHURCH IS BECAUSE THE WORD OF GOD ISN’T BEING PREACHED THERE. I CANNOT SAY THIS ENOUGH. NO WORD OF GOD = NO HOLY GHOST. NO WORD OF GOD + NO HOLY GHOST = NO POWER, NO ANOINTING, NO PRESENCE OF GOD…NO NOTHING BUT DEAD RELIGION AND EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCES WITH EVERY SPIRIT BUT THE HOLY SPIRIT.
I am not going to back down. I am not going to go away. I am going to keep on this topic of the Bible being so important in the pulpit and believers because it’s what the Holy Ghost has stuck in my craw. I am tired of turning on TBN to see another Share-a-thon. How about having a soul-a-thon? How about having a Bible-a-thon?
I would like to write on some other topic than what the Holy Ghost has me stuck on, but I can’t get off the topic of the Bible because so many of you preachers and Christians (and I include myself) treat the Bible so casually…and GOD IS NOT OKAY WITH THAT.
Our next series is going to be on Authentic Fellowship, and then we’re coming right back to another one on Authentic Bible Study because every time I search my heart and ask the Lord to point me to another series…it’s about the importance of the Bible in the believer and preacher and church and pulpit…and that’s because there’s not enough people like me who believe that the only book that is really necessary is the Bible.
All these other Christian books are wonderful and great resources…but it’s the WORD OF GOD that contains the gospel. The gospel is the only thing that leads people to repentance and to understand that they are sinners in need of a Savior…and that the only name that is given by which men and women can be saved is the name of Jesus Christ.
I don’t need a book on Evangelism to tell people how to be saved…they just need to know that if they believe in their hearts and confess with their mouths that what Jesus did on the Cross was for them, and become whosoever’s that call upon the name of the Lord…they can and will be saved. That’s Romans 10:9-13 in a nutshell…instead you write a sixteen chapter book on how to be a better evangelist…when you could just refer them to the Bible.
Again, this isn’t a message about how horrible other Christian books are. I am not against them. I have a library full of Christian books…but I also have four Bibles. I have three Bible apps on my phone, and one of my bookmarks on my computer is YouVersion. While it’s nice to have a Christian book library…none of those books are more important to me than my original Bible that I bought for myself on my 25th Birthday…I am 39 now. The most important book in the world to me is that Bible.
So…let me make this clear. I am not against reading Christian books…I am against them being preached from on Sundays. If you’re preaching from Rick Warren’s book instead of the Bible…God is NOT okay with that…and that’s not the direction the Holy Ghost wanted you to go. That’s the direction your church board wanted you to go because when you preach the Bible you have a drop in attendance…and when you have a drop in attendance that means you have a drop in the amount that winds up in the offering plate…and when you have a drop in what goes in the offering plate that means you have a harder time paying bills.
Maybe if you would trust God and not your offering plate you would find that money never really stops flowing. God said that if you seek Him first He will take care of all the rest. Yeah…but that doesn’t pay the electric bill. Well, if you’d tithe out of that money and give to missions then maybe you’re electric bill would be paid. Yeah…but that doesn’t cover the payment for my Mercedes Benz…well…perhaps if you didn’t live above your means and you bought a more economical vehicle…you could take that money you use to pay for your Mercedes and use it to pay your electric bill.
Oh yeah…if you think I’m done meddling…I’m just getting started. I wasn’t intending to go here, but that’s the fun part about being in tune with the Holy Ghost as I’m writing.
That is really the reason why so many of you have sought to have all kinds of programs and preach all kinds of different books…when you preach the word of God to people it’s not quite as entertaining. In fact, when you preach the Word of God some times you’re flat out going to offend people…and they’re going to leave for a more “seeker friendly church” who will tell them what they want to hear…and because you’re not challenging them and allowing the Holy Ghost to convict them of the way they are living their lives they will give their money to someone else who will tell them what their itching ears want to hear (sound familiar…Paul wrote the very same thing to Timothy). So, rather than offend people and lose their money you decide to compromise and instead of preaching the Word…maybe we will try this new book by Joel Osteen…and before you know it…you have more people because your preaching feel good stuff that never confronts people…and you too have now become a spiritual motivational speaker instead of a preacher of the Word of God…and now the money starts pouring in because people are loving the fact that they can live however they want…and they get no challenge or opposition from you because you have strayed away from the Word of God for the sake of keeping folk around so your bills get paid.
In the mean time, God is wondering what in the world is wrong with you because when you started out you were on fire. You preached the word with a fire and boldness, and somewhere along the way because your church board got worried about the amount of people leaving because they were offended because of the Word’s sake…and so they said you have to stop preaching so much Bible and start preaching something people want to hear other wise we’re going to have to close the doors.
Am I hitting anyone yet? Don’t write me a letter…I know where the Holy Ghost is going.
NO MAN CAN SERVE TWO MASTERS. YOU CANNOT SERVE PEOPLE RICK WARREN’S BOOK AND CLAIM TO BE A PREACHER OF THE WORD OF GOD. YOU CANNOT PREACH SOMETHING OTHER THAN WHAT THUS SAITH THE LORD AND THINK HE’S OKAY WITH YOU PREACHING A WATERED DOWN GOSPEL…HE IS NOT.
Okay, I’m going to get off of this and back to the message, but I am enjoying that the Holy Ghost is allowing me to meddle a little bit.
“WATCH IT WORK IN PEOPLE’S LIVES!” – Our confidence in God’s Word is enhanced every time we observe the work it accomplishes in people’s lives. Paul said: “The Scriptures train God’s servants to do all kinds of good deeds” (v. 17). Paul’s preaching was more than notes on papyrus; it came to life in the form of a developing young leader.
“What it work in people’s live”. Watch what work in people’s lives? The Word of God that should be preached from the pulpits. It’s the preaching of the Bible that is profitable. I didn’t say that…Paul did…by inspiration of the Holy Ghost…and I don’t know about anyone else…but if God tells me that something I do is going to be profitable for me…I’m going to do it.
Listen…profitable doesn’t mean monetary gain here neither. Profitable means that our soul is going to prosper because we’re going to be properly and thoroughly equipped by the Word of God to lead healthy, mature Christian lives. Those of us who are called to be in ministry will be thoroughly equipped to walk in the vocation in which God has called us to.
THE BIBLE DOES THIS ALL BY ITSELF. It doesn’t need anyone’s help. It doesn’t need a hundred books written about how to lead someone to Christ…the Bible tells you how to do that…Preach the Gospel because in IT is the power unto salvation. The Bible doesn’t need a hundred books on how to live a holier life because the Bible says that when I become born again and receive the Holy Ghost…I’ve received the fullness of Christ inside of me…and therefore I have all of the holiness I am ever going to receive the moment I receive Christ as my Lord and Savior.
Every single topic that has hundreds of books by hundreds of authors can be traced back and read about right in the Bible. God is the Author and the Finisher of our faith. I don’t need two hundred books on how to grow my faith…the Bible says that faith comes by hearing…and by HEARING THE WORD OF GOD. So…don’t tell me that the Bible is outdated or out of touch with today’s generation…the Bible has and always will be relevant for thousands of years…and it will continue to be such until the day Jesus returns…it will continue to be the ONLY book that contains all the answers to all the issues of life. There is NO other book like it, and there is NO other book that can take it’s place.
The Bible is the only book that can transform lives…and that is why the Holy Ghost has me so hooked on this topic because I’m one of the few listening to His voice speak on this matter. Please believe me, friends, God is not okay with His Word being removed from the pulpits of churches. He’s insulted by it, and He’s not going to stand by for long and allow His Word to not be preached.
Pastors have all heard the well-known adage, “Practice what you preach,” but one leader I heard turned it around and asked: “What would our sermons be like if we only PREACHED what we PRACTICED?” Ouch! That struck a chord I would not soon forget.
So…what would your sermon be like if you preached what you practiced? I am guessing that it would look like what’s already being preached in churches today…everything but the Word of God.
I feel like I need to say one more time that this isn’t a message against reading Christian books. I honestly have a library full of them. What this is, however, is the Holy Ghost speaking through me that God isn’t happy with these books being preached instead of His Word. I think I am going to close this message here, and I’m going to close it with this one quote here from this last paragraph of the devotional we’re talking from. That statement is this one.
The Bible is not just information; it is a transformational tool we use to change lives. Within the pages of Scripture the Word of God is described as: a “sword,” “hammer,” “lamp,” “light,” “seed” and “fire.” It is so powerful it pierces, pounds, brightens, directs, grows and burns within our souls.
Is the Bible burning in your soul or is it collecting dust on your coffee table?
Wow. What a strong message. I have to say that I found myself being convicted of my own casual attitude towards the Bible. I found myself being convicted that I don’t spend enough time reading it. However, one thing I am happy to say is I’m not finding myself convicted because I preach something other than the Word of God.
Friends, if you’re looking for someone who is trying to run a “seeker friendly ministry” this isn’t the one for you. If it were I wouldn’t be writing messages like the one I just wrote. I may not be perfect, but one thing I won’t do is replace the Word of God for someone else’s book. If you’re looking for a ministry that’s completely founded and ruled by the Word of God…then this is the ministry for you.
Thanks again for reading. I know there’s a lot said in this message, and I know there’s a lot of meddling…and I admit it was fun that the Holy Ghost allowed me to do that…but that’s part of me not really caring about being popular. If the Holy Ghost wants me to go some where…I’m going to follow Him right where He wants me to go…even if it costs me readers…I’d rather offend you than offend God…that’s just the bottom line…and the truth.
I would rather you left me then to hear Jesus say to me “I have this against you”, and one of the things He won’t have against me is that I refused to preach what He wanted me to preach…which is His Word.
I love you all, and want you to know we’ll be wrapping up this series tomorrow…and the next series will be Authentic Fellowship. It will be another seven message series, and when that one is finished we will follow it up with another series on the importance of the Bible with “Authentic Bible Study”.
Blessings and Grace to you.
