“I got off track, I made mistakes…back slid to that place where souls get lost, lines get crossed…and the pain won’t go away…I hit my knees, now here I stand. There I was, now here I am…Changed.”
I have listened to this song about 25 times already since downloading it. There’s a beautiful message in this song, and a fantastic testimony that I believe could be the testimony of anyone of us that are whosoever’s who have called upon the name of the Lord.
I know there are some who are going to frown upon me for posting a “country music band“, but if you’re too religious to enjoy a song like this…I’m sorry…but I’m not. This song is awesome, tells an awesome story, and I’m not ashamed to say it’s blessed me…yes…a country music band sang a song that’s blessed me…the pastor of Christlike Ministries NWA.
God can use anyone who has a desire to be used by Him, and whether it’s the members of the band (which I applaud for putting this kind of song on a country music album…and releasing it to be played on the radio), the songwriter, the stations who aren’t afraid to play this song, or a man like me who isn’t too religious to hear the message of hope, reconciliation, and the gospel in this song…then who am I to frown upon it…and say this can’t be of God. I believe it is, and therefore I am posting it…and if that causes me to be hated or persecuted…Praise the Lord!
I will support anything that has a message like this. A message that says no matter how far off track you are…God is always waiting and watching for you to appear at the end of the drive way…like He does for all of us who are Prodigal sons and daughters…and if you’ve forgotten what it’s like to come back to the Father after back slidding away from Him…there’s a pretty good chance you’re backslidding right now…or you have too much pride.
There’s been many a time that the chorus of this song has been my life…but the best part of the good news of the Bible is that no matter how far off track you get…God is always ready, willing, and waiting to take you back…dust you off, put a robe & ring on you, kiss your face, and kill the fatted calf to throw a party for your return. Never forget that when we return…how God rejoices…and that’s not my message…that’s the message of the Prodigal son which is in the Word of God.
I hope this song blesses you…like it has me…and reminds you (like it did me) that we can always come home…to our Daddy.
