Today’s Scripture:  Colossians 1:20-22

“20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:” Colossians 1:20-22

Introduction:

We continue our series “We Have Been Reconciled” with this passage Colossians 1:20-22.  There’s such good news in this passage of Scripture, and that’s what the Gospel is…good news.

So…let’s get into today’s message.

Today’s Message:

20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:  Colossians 1:20-22

We’re at peace with God through the Cross of Christ.  The Cross is where God reconciled ALL things to Himself.  He judged ALL sin at that time (2 Corinthians 5:19), and because of that we are ALL found guilty of ALL sin except one…accepting or rejecting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

Again, this is where the religious world has their disconnect because the truth is it sounds great to say that I’m going to Heaven because I keep God’s laws, I’m a good person, and I attend church regularly.  However, that’s the group of people that’s going to stand before God as goats talking about how they feed the poor, clothed the naked, and so on and so forth…and God’s going to say away from Me…I never knew you.

Why is that?

It’s because the only way to be reconciled to God is through the Cross, and being a “whosoever” that believes in their heart, and confesses with their mouth that what Jesus did on the Cross was for them…and they realize that without that confession…they’re not going to make it to Heaven.

Friend…God’s not going to be impressed with what we do here in the earth…He’s only interested in one thing.  Did we accept of reject Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

I just wrote in the other series The American Bible Challenge – Week 2 about how Jesus Christ is our Ark, and that the ONLY way to be assured that we’re saved and going to Heaven is to make sure we’re in the Ark…which is Jesus Christ.  If we’re trying to get to Heaven any other way…we’re not going to make it.  There aren’t any “row boats” or other “life preservers”.  There’s only ONE Ark…and if you’re not IN it…you’re going to perish…for eternity.

Listen…the ONLY basis any of us has for being saved is that we have Jesus in our hearts…period.  There is no other way.  There’s no other method, there’s no other process, and there’s no earning it, working for it…there’ just ONE way…and that way is through the Cross.

With out the Cross we were enemies to God.  We were on the outside of the Ark looking in, and just like once the door to the Ark was closed it was too late for those who didn’t get IN the Ark…one day the door of opportunity is going to be closed to you…and if you refused to get IN…and thought this whole Jesus and the Cross thing was silly and foolish…you’re going to be left out…and you will perish along with those who thought Noah was crazy.

There’s a lot of people who think us “Jesus Freaks” are crazy, wrong, and some even think we’re delusional…just like the people in Noah’s day thought he was.

The sad thing is there are many in the religious world…including those who claim to be Christians themselves think the same thing that the world does….but how many of you know we’re not to be swayed by what the world or even the religious say…we’re to stand-fast and hold on by faith to what we know the Word of God says.

It doesn’t matter what the religious world says is included…or what they think is required for salvation…what matters is that the Bible is clear that all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  Baptism doesn’t save, being a member of the same church for 30 years doesn’t save, giving money to the homeless doesn’t save, being a good person doesn’t save, never drinking a drop of alcohol doesn’t save, never smoking a cigar or cigarette doesn’t save…all of that stuff is good…but none of it saves…the ONLY thing that saved is to be IN the Ark…and there’s only ONE way IN the Ark…and that’s to be a “whosoever” that’s called upon the name of Jesus to be their Lord and Savior.

Have you done that?  Have you been a “whosoever” who has called upon the name of the Lord?  If not…you can do it right now.  All that’s needed is this simple prayer…and you’ll be reconciled to God…and no longer an enemy of His.

Dear Lord Jesus…come into my heart.  Forgive me of my sin.  Wash me, cleanse me, and set me free.  Jesus, thank You that You died for me.  I believe that You are risen from the dead and that You’re coming back for me.  Place me IN Your Ark right now, today.  Fill me with the Holy Ghost.  Give me a passion for the lost, a hunger for the things of God, and a holy boldness to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I boldly confess that I am a whosoever that has called upon the name of the Lord…that I am IN the Ark…and that I am saved…I am born again…I am forgiven…I am the righteousness of God IN Christ Jesus…and I am In the Ark and on my way to Heaven because I have Jesus in my heart.  In Jesus name I pray…Amen!

As a minister of the Gospel…I want you to know that if you said that simple prayer…you are saved, born again, and you’re now IN the Ark…and now you have the safety and assurance that when you stand before God on the charge of rejecting His Son as your Lord and Savior…you’ll be found not guilty…and will spend eternity in Heaven.

If you chose to reject this opportunity…please know that just like those who drown in the flood…you may not get another chance…and that when you stand before God on the charge of rejecting God’s Son as Lord and Savior…you’ll be found guilty…and you will spend eternity in Hell.

I hope you chose to get IN the Ark…

Conclusion:

If you’ve just said that prayer today…or if you’ve already said that prayer…be assured that you’re at peace with God…and that you’re going to Heaven.  It’s really just that easy to know, and be assured that when you die or Jesus returns…you’ll be spending eternity with Him.

Are you IN the Ark?  If not…you can be…just go back to that prayer…believe it in your heart…and confess it OUT LOUD with your mouth…and you too will be IN the Ark…saved from the storm that’s coming after the rapture…and some of it that’s coming before it.

It’s time to get IN the Ark…the rain is coming.
