Jeremiah 33:3 AMP

We are on day 5 of our 7 day study on the Goodness of God.  So far let’s review what we’ve learned are aspects of God’s goodness.

Day 1 & 2:  His Love

Day 3:  His Rest & Peace

Day 4:  His Faithfulness & His Protection

So, what are we going to learn about His goodness today?  Once again, I felt it necessary to use the Amplified version today because it’s got a little more to it then the old King James version.

One of these days, should the Lord make it alright I’ll write a commentary about my thoughts on all of the different translations of the Bible.  In it, I’ll let you know what ones I that I think are good translations, the ones I personally like to use, and the ones that I think are absolutely dangerous to the church.  So…I’ll seek the Lord about when it’ll be alright with Him for me to talk about that.

So…here’s Jeremiah 33:3 in the Amplified; “Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know (do not distinguish and recognize, have knowledge of and understand).”

One of the things that I love about God is that His ear is always open to us.  I wasn’t really going to go into this much, but there seems to be a little anointing to stay here for a minute…so I will.

Remember Jesus’ prayer standing before Lazarus’ tomb?  “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.  Yes, I know You always hear AND listen to Me…”

We can have the same assurance.  We are His children just as Jesus is.  We are all sons and daughters of our Daddy God…and if His ears were attentive to Jesus, if He’s telling Jeremiah to “Call to Me and I will answer you.”, and if God truly is no respecter of person…then that holds true for us as well.

Alot of us, and I can be guilty of this too.  We pray about something over and over and over again as if God has somehow gone deaf, and may not have heard us the first time.

Jesus said; “I thank You that You have heard Me.”  This implies that God heard Him before He even started to pray.  Jesus goes on to say; “I know You always hear me and listen to Me.”  Isn’t that interesting that is added, and then He says that He was just praying that out loud for the benefit of the people who were watching…and like I said in a previous message…I believe He was also saying that to us today.

Remember Jesus in Matthew talked to the religious people about “vain repetition”.  I think that was also a message to us as believers that God isn’t deaf…and that when we lift up our voices to Him…not only does God hear us…but He listens to us.

So…the next time your praying.  Pray with a little expectancy…and faith.  Expect that when you pray…He not only hears what your praying, but He is listening to you.

I said all of that to get to the point of today’s message in that God is reachable.  He’s not some distant God up there somewhere in the clouds.  He’s not “the Man upstairs”, and there aren’t any obstacles between you and Him.

Let me say that again…there’s nothing keeping Him from hearing you when you pray.  I know.  There’s religious folks who are going to say that He can’t hear you over your sin.  To which I reply if 2 Corinthians 5:19 says that He isn’t counting our sins against us…then that means there’s no sin that is keeping Him from hearing us pray.

So…if you belong to Him…and you are praying…He is hearing and listening to your prayers.  Now, just because He is hearing and listening doesn’t always mean He is going to answer the way we want Him to.  But, let this get into your heart…when you call to Him…He is listening.

“The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.” (1 Corinthians 16:23-24)

Blessing & Grace to you
