As we look at our scripture today you may not see it at first, but there’s two aspects of the Goodness of God just in this one verse. That’s why verse 8 is important…we’re to meditate upon the Word of God because if we do we can read verses of scripture, and sometimes draw out more than what’s written.
The first aspect I see here is one that we always talk about, and that is…faithfulness. God is faithful. If He says that He’s going to be with you wherever you go…He means He’s going to be with you wherever you go. Jesus said it this way; “lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”, and in Hebrews 13:5 we find the verse most know “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
I like what God speaks to Joshua in verse 5. “As I was with Moses, so will I be with thee.” He IS faithful to His word…always. The Bible also says that God is no respecter of person…so that means that His promise to never leave or forsake Moses, Abraham, David, and Paul is also true when it comes to you and I. He is faithful to His word…and when He says He will never leave or forsake us He means it.
I can already hear in my spirit some of you saying that He’s not walking with me. I’m probably going to offend those of you who are asking that, but it’s not God that’s moved away. If you aren’t feeling God it’s not because He left you…it’s because you have left Him. God’s constant…never changing right? Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever…that’s Bible too…right? So…if you’re wondering where God went…can I ask you a question…where did you go? When did you wonder away from Him?
The second aspect of the Goodness of God seen here is that He is a protector of those who are His own. He’s referred to in scripture as a shelter, strong tower, fortress, defense, and many other terms that let you know that He protects those who are His.
So…be encouraged today in knowing that God IS with you, and He is also watching over you. This doesn’t mean that things won’t ever happen, but what it does mean is that none of them catch God by surprise.
Father, I pray for each and every person who reads this message today. I ask that You would show them where You have been faithful, how often You protect them, and if they have strayed from You…please call out to them today…and draw them back to You. I ask that all of us who are Prodigal son’s and daughters would be drawn back to You. I can see You standing on the porch of our hearts waiting for us to return. I can sense Your urgency as You eagerly await the moment when You can run to us…oh…Lord…I pray these things in the name of Jesus…Amen.
“The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.” (1 Corinthians 16:23-24)
Blessing & Grace to you
