Our study on the Goodness of God continues to center around the Love of God. That’s because His goodness is birthed from love. Love is the the starting and ending point because God is love. So all of His attributes begin and end with love…because that’s what He is.
We look today at Romans 8:39, and unlike yesterday I believe we’re going to stay here. I thought that maybe we could look at a few different translations of the Bible to see what we dig out from this verse.
In the New Century Version: “nothing above us, nothing below us, nor anything else in the whole world will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Yesterday I said that the goodness of God is made manifest through the life & ministry of Jesus Christ. Jesus said if you’ve seen Me you have seen the Father.
I’m not much of a fan of “The Message” translation, but I like how this verse is translated: “high or low, thinkable or unthinkable – absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.”
I like what verse 38 – 39 in the Amplified says also. “I am persuaded beyond doubt (am sure) that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers, Nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
I am convinced and fully persuaded that God’s ultimate display of goodness is fully embodied in Christ.
I am also fully comforted in the fact that there’s nothing I can do or not do to separate myself from His love, and I hope that you are too.
“The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.” (1 Corinthians 16:23-24)
Blessing & Grace to you
