Grace of God – Day 5 – (2 Peter 1:2-4)

Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary -“In Christ all fullness dwells, and pardon, peace, grace, and knowledge, and new principles, are thus given through the Holy Spirit. The promises to those who are partakers of a Divine nature, will cause us to inquire whether we are really renewed in the spirit of our minds; let us turn all these promises into prayers for the transforming and purifying grace of the Holy Spirit.”

I really am enjoying this series on the grace of God. I love the commentary on these verse’s. Everything we need is found in the fullness of Christ, and given to us through the Holy Spirit. This is how we grow from grace to grace, faith to faith, and step by step…God’s grace.

In other words…everything I have, everything I do, and everything I am in the Christian walk is by the grace of God. Nothing comes by my own abilities, strength, knowledge, or talents.

In fact, I was having a hard time writing today’s message…and I just now had the Holy Spirit give me the unction to write about what this passage of Scripture is talking about…see. I sat here trying to write under my own strength & ability…and I didn’t like anything I was writing…and I really wasn’t able to have any kind of flow in what I was writing…but now…the Holy Spirit shed light on what the Lord was trying to get across through Peter…and now I have the anointing to write about the grace of God as it pertains to these verses.

You see. I couldn’t even interpret & write a message without the grace of God. Let me rephrase that. I could’ve written a message on my own strength, but now that there’s an anointing behind it…there’s knowledge, there’s understanding, and this is going to be a better message.

Look here in verse three…this is what ties this all together…and illustrates what I was just trying to get across. Everything pertaining to life & godliness comes through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.

Nothing happens in the life of a believer on our own strengths and abilities. This is what keeps coming to my mind. Everything we have, do, and become is solely by the grace and/or favor of God on our lives…and as we allow the grace & favor of God in…we grow…and mature…and that’s all done by grace through faith.

“The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.” (1 Corinthians 16:23-24)
