“We Have Been Reconciled” – Day 1

Today’s Scripture:

16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 2 Corinthians 5:16-18

Introduction:

In addition to starting The American Bible Challenge series…I just sense that we need to re-visit one of my favorite things to talk about…Reconciliation.  We did a series about this in the beginning, but it’s good to come back to the foundational truths from time to time…to be reminded about just what the title the Lord gave me for this series…We’ve Been Reconciled.

So…with that in mind…let’s pray…and get started.

Heavenly Father…I adore You, and I thank You for this day, and for this opportunity to speak Your Word…and write Your Truth.  I ask that You would anoint me with the Holy Ghost to write clear and precisely what it is that You would have me to say…and that I would write only of the oracles of You.  I yield myself and my ability to write to the Holy Ghost…and ask for that supernatural ability that only comes by yielding and surrendering to You.  Please allow this message to reach deep into the hearts of the readers…and be a reminder to me as well…that we have been reconciled.  I ask this In Jesus name…Amen and Amen.

Today’s Message:

I was reading through a note I posted on Facebook back in February, and as I read it…I just sensed that we needed a Reconciliation Review series.  It’s always good to study new topics, but it’s also always important to review and return to the basic, foundational, fundamental truths of what every believer ought to know…and be assured of.  So…it’s hard to believe I wrote something in February that the Holy Spirit is wanting to use to speak through…but that just means I wrote something good the first time…and the Holy Spirit is about to make it even better…Amen!?!

The message I wrote was titled:  “A Nugget of Gold From My King”, and just like I do with other series…I’m going to take what was already said…and see what the Holy Ghost wants us to know…or add to it.

As I was dozing off last night I had the Lord share this little nugget with me.  At New Life Christian Center we just started a series “Written in Red”.  Pastor Cass was talking about the Kingdom of God, and how everything Jesus spoke of was about the Kingdom…and then as I was dozing off to sleep…I heard the Lord say this:

“There’s no Kingdom without the Cross.  Every Kingdom has a symbol, and the Cross is the symbol of Mine.  You cannot enter My Kingdom without going through the Cross.”

The Lord is forever keeping the Cross before me.  I still believe in the Old Rugged Cross, and I still believe that the road to heaven is still only as wide as Jesus’ shoulders.  There is NO other way to enter into God’s Kingdom without acknowledging the Cross…and Christ.

There are far too many  who preach that Jesus is just “A way” to heaven, but Jesus didn’t say that did He?  No…He said;  ” I am THE Way, THE Truth, and THE Life…NO man can come unto the Father BUT by ME.”  John 14:6 is not up for debate or negotiation.  If you are trying to go to Heaven…if you’re trying to make it into the Kingdom any other way than the Cross…your not going to make it…because the only way  is through a relationship with Jesus.

It’s a wonderful thing to get little nuggets of goodness from God.  I love it when the Lord speaks something to me, and then follows it up with revelation about what He just said…and why it’s relevant…and now that I’ve been doing this for a while…revisit something He spoke to me…and see if what new revelation we can get from it.  However, what immediately jumps off to me is what He spoke to me back in February.

“There’s no Kingdom without the Cross. Every Kingdom has a symbol, and the Cross is the symbol of Mine. You cannot enter My Kingdom without going through the Cross.”

You know.  There are so many ministries out there that deny the Cross, or they make it of little to no effect because of their “works Gospel that they preach.  I know that everything in the Christian life begins and ends with the Cross.  It’s the very symbol of God’s Kingdom, and those who try to make it to Heaven any other way…Paul says that they should be accursed for preaching a false gospel.  Now…I’m sure some are going to be mad at me, but I didn’t write that…Paul did by inspiration of the Holy Ghost.  However, this is what I did write by inspiration of the Holy Ghost…

If you are trying to go to Heaven…if your trying to make it into the Kingdom any other way than the Cross…your not going to make it…because the only way  is through a relationship with Jesus.

I think that there would be a lot of arguments in the Body of Christ solved if we’d just adhere to what Jesus said in John 14:6.  “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No man comes unto the Father, but by Me.”  You see, because there really isn’t a gray area up for negotiation here.  There’s an unmovable, unchangeable point, and no matter what we may think or try to insert…the fact is this…if Jesus says it…then there’s NO changing it.  After all…He is God in the flesh…so doesn’t it make sense that if Jesus says something (and He said that He only says what He hears the Father say, and doesn’t say anything except what He hears the Father say) then it’s probably not only worth noting…but set in stone.

There’s no open interpretation of John 14:6.  There’s no gray area.  There’s nothing that’s up for negotiation or discussion.  Jesus lays it down the way it is, and whether we like it or not…that’s the way it is…period…end of story.  It amazes me how we try to bargain with God to get Him to see things our way…especially when it comes to His Word.

Friends…listen to me very carefully.  God’s not ever going to go back or against His Word.  If it’s written in the Bible…that means God said it…and that He’s not a man that He should lie.  He also says that since there’s no one above Him that His Word is so honest that He swears it by Himself.  That means that there’s never going to be a moment where we bring something to Him…and He’s gonna be like:  “You know what, your right.  I was wrong.”  No friends…if our theology doesn’t line up with what’s in the Word of God…it’s not the Bible that’s wrong…we are the ones who have it wrong…period.

If you are trying to go to Heaven…if your trying to make it into the Kingdom any other way than the Cross…your not going to make it…because the only way  is through a relationship with Jesus.

I felt a need in my spirit to repeat this point.  If you are trying to get to Heaven any other way than through the Cross…you’re not going to make it.  There isn’t enough good deeds or good works that you can do.  It doesn’t matter if you’re baptized or not.  It doesn’t matter if you’ve ever taken communion or not.  The only thing that matters is that you believe that what Jesus did on the Cross was for you…and that you were a whosoever that called upon the name of Jesus to be saved.  If you haven’t done that…or if you’re trying to do it any other way…then you are a robber.  Again those aren’t my words they’re from Jesus.  Don’t believe me?

7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. John 10:7-9

Jesus is the door.  He is the only way to Heaven, and that’s what the ministry of Reconciliation is all about.  It’s about the fact that on the Cross He did all the work so that all we would have to do is receive and confess by faith that what He did on the Cross was for us.  The reason God can say that He’s no longer counting our sins against us is because He judge ALL of sin at one time on the Cross.

That begs a simple question.  How many sins are covered by the blood of Jesus when God says He judged and forgave ALL sin at one time?  Does that mean that murder isn’t covered?  Does the Bible say that He’s not counting all sins but murder against us?  No…the Bible clearly says that He’s not imputing or counting any of our sins against us.  Well…what about those Christians who drink alcohol?  That’s covered by the Blood of Jesus.  What about those judgmental Christians?  Covered by the Blood of Jesus.  What about pedophiles?  While it’s certainly disgusting…anyone who really wants to be delivered of that lifestyle can be…because the blood of Jesus was shed for that too.  What about homosexuality?  It’s the same answer as pedophilia…it’s covered by the Blood of Jesus…and anyone who wants to be delivered of that lifestyle…can be.

So what about this “sin unto death”?  That’s someone who actively and willingly participates in a certain sin…like cigarette smoking.  If someone is a cigarette smoker, and refuses to quit…they’re not going to hell because they smoke…but it’s a sin they’re doing that will do damage to their body.  I’ve heard it said this way:  “Cigarette smoking isn’t going to send you to hell…but it will end your life faster than those who do not do that.”  Same thing with heavy alcohol drinkers or drug addicts.

Listen…for those of you running around pointing out all the specks in everyone else’s eyes about the drinking, smoking, cussing, and chewing tobacco…you may need to take a look at the big ol log in your own eye.  All of us are practicing sin that could be pointed out, but the truth is no matter what sin it is…it’s covered by the Blood of Jesus.

The Bible is clear.  There is only one sin that is classified as the “unforgiveable sin”, and that is blaspheme against the Holy Spirit.  What’s that?  Willfully rejecting His promptings to accept what Jesus Christ did on the Cross was for you, and refusing to acknowledge the prompting of the Holy Ghost to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.”

In other words…those of you running around claiming that Jesus is “a way” instead of “the way”…you are committing blasphemy against the Holy Spirit…and NOT being super spiritual.  Those of you running around preaching a gospel of works are committing blasphemy against the Holy Ghost.  Those of you that constantly reject the Gospel…you’re rejecting Jesus…and therefore you’re rejecting the Holy Ghost…and that’s blasphemy against the Holy Ghost.

The problem is when it comes to thinking that entering the Kingdom of God is our responsibility.  That we some how have to earn our way in.  It sounds good and religious to say that I’m earning my way into the Kingdom, that I’m always Kingdom minded, that I never walk in the flesh, I’m always in the Spirit, and I never miss God…but that’s all very unattainable.

Look…the only reason I am going to leave this world one day, and go to Heaven isn’t because I’ve decided to embrace the call of ministry on my life and have written 200 messages and counting as a result.  I’m not going to Heaven because I’m a member of a fantastic church.  I’m not going to Heaven because my grandmother prayed over me before I ever set foot into the realm of time.  I’m not going to Heaven because I’m a good man, I do good things, and I’m a good person.  The ONLY reason I am going to Heaven is because I chose to believe by faith that what Jesus did on the Cross was for me, and I confessed with my mouth that Jesus Christ was my Lord and Savior.  The ONLY reason I’m headed to Heaven when I die…or am raptured out is because I am a whosoever that called upon the name of the Lord to be saved.

When God looks at me, and asks why I should be let in.  The only response I’m going to have is that I shouldn’t be let in because of my own good deeds and merit I am unworthy…but the only reason I’m worthy is because I’m a whosoever that called upon the name of Jesus to be saved.  My only response is going to be Jesus took my place…and frankly…that’s the only response that will be accepted.

But when you take time to study reconciliation…your reminded that we’re not trying to attain anything…we already have it.  We have already been reconciled to God…and it’s not based upon you and I or anything else…it’s based upon the Cross, upon Christ, and the fact that God was in Christ reconciling the world to HIMSELF.

No, friends…the only reason I’m reconciled is because I believe that by grace through faith…Jesus died for me.  I’m in Christ.  I’m that new creation in Christ Jesus…and that’s the only reason I’m reconciled.  I didn’t do anything other than become a whosoever that called upon the name of Jesus.  Jesus did all the rest of the work…and there for that’s the only basis I have for being reconciled to God.

The Kingdom business was always the Cross.  The Kingdom was about reconciling you and I back to it, and that’s what is sorely lacking when it comes to preaching about the Kingdom…they leave out the Cross.

Like I said.  Everything in the Christian life begins and ends with the Cross.  It’s the only way.  If we’re trying to do it any other way…not only are we going the wrong way…but we won’t make it.

Have you ever been a whosoever that’s called upon the name of the Lord?  If you haven’t done that yet…what are you waiting for?  This may be that moment the Holy Ghost is speaking to your heart…don’t be guilty of blasphemy against the Holy Ghost…take a moment to visit this link…and do what is suggest afterwards…and you’ll be part of the family that’s been reconciled to God.

Conclusion:

It’s always good to get back to the basics, and that’s what this message is about.  I hope you’ll be one of those whosoever’s who calls upon the name of the Lord if you haven’t.  If you already have…then I hope you’ll stop trying to work so hard for something you’ve already received.

Much of the Christian faith is learning about who we are and what we have in Christ…and then learning how to put that into practice…not trying to work out butts off to be good enough to maybe some how enter into Heaven…because the truth is of our own merit…we’ll never earn it or be good enough to get to Heaven.

I once heard it said this way:  “The road to Heaven is only as wide as Jesus’ shoulders.”  In other words, the only way to Heaven is to be a new creation in Christ Jesus…and the only way to do that…is to be a whosoever that calls upon the name of the Lord.

Won’t you do that today if you haven’t…and like I said…if you’ve already done that…then it’s time to rest in the finished work of the Cross.  You’re sins have been forgiven…and all the work you’re doing isn’t going to impress God at all…the only thing that does impress Him is faith…it’s by grace through faith that we’re saved…there really is NO other way.

2 Corinthians 517
